What it is

Berea is a Bible app for people who want to read Scripture the way the Bereans did: carefully, daily, checking. The whole Bible is inside, free, in two public-domain translations — the World English Bible and the Reina-Valera 1909 — and the app is built around reading modules: a passage, then a set of forty tasks of the kinds used in serious reading exams. Multiple choice. True / False / Not Given. Yes / No / Not Given. Fill in the blank. Matching headings, matching information, matching features, matching sentence endings.

Every module is its own passage and its own mix of task types — a book, or a run of chapters — so no two modules ask the same thing about the same text.

PT Theology is a division of PT Technologies, a software company in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, that builds software for businesses, apps for people, and free writing tools. PT Theology is the part of the company that builds apps for reading Scripture closely.

We think the best way to read a text carefully is to be asked questions about it that cannot be answered by skimming — the kind a reading exam asks. Berea applies that to the Bible. Everything we make is built on public-domain text, so the Scripture itself is always free.

Before you write

• Subscription and refunds. Berea is billed by Google Play. You cancel in Google Play (Play Store → Payments & subscriptions). See refunds.
• A wrong answer in a module. Tell us the module, the question number and the verse — we check every report against the text and correct the module in the next update.
• Lost progress. Progress is saved to your account; sign in on the new device with the same email or Google account.

Please include the app name, your device and the app version (Settings → About).

Is the Bible free in Berea?

Yes. The whole Bible, both testaments, in the World English Bible and the Reina-Valera 1909, is free and works offline. The subscription covers the reading modules, the games and progress tracking.

Which translations, and why those?

The World English Bible (English) and the Reina-Valera 1909 (Spanish). Both are in the public domain, which is what lets us give the text away and ship it inside the app. We may license further translations later.

Is Berea for a particular church or denomination?

No. The tasks ask what the text says, not what it means for a tradition. Where a question would depend on doctrine, we do not ask it.

What does the trial cost?

Nothing for 7 days. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, Google Play charges $5.99 for the first month. Cancel any time after that; you keep access until the end of the paid period.

Do you sell my data?

No. See the privacy policy for exactly what is collected and why.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, in the app (Settings → Account → Delete) or from this page.

1. Who we are

The controller of your personal data is PT TECHNOLOGIES LLC (ООО "PT TECHNOLOGIES"), Tashkent, Uzbekistan, tax ID 313308723, trading as PT Theology (“we”). Contact: support@techatpt.com.

We do not collect your contacts, location, photos or microphone. We do not show advertising and do not sell or rent personal data.

3. Reading without an account

You can read the Bible in Berea without creating an account. In that case only the usage and crash data above is collected; your reading position stays on your device.

4. Legal basis

Account, progress and subscription data are processed to perform our contract with you. Usage and crash data are processed on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working; you can turn analytics off in Settings → Privacy. Notifications are sent only with your consent, which you can withdraw in the app or in your phone’s settings.

5. Where it is stored, and who helps us

Data is stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC, USA; data centres in the United States) — Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Analytics and Crashlytics. Payments are handled by Google Play (Google Commerce Ltd / Google LLC). Support email is handled by our mail provider. If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the transfer of your data to the United States relies on Google’s certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and on the Standard Contractual Clauses in Google’s terms. Each processor is bound by its own data-processing terms; Google’s are at firebase.google.com/terms/data-processing-terms.

6. Your rights

You can access, export, correct and delete your data. Deletion is in the app (Settings → Account → Delete) and on our account-deletion page; we complete it within 30 days. For anything else, email support@techatpt.com. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to object, to restrict processing, and to complain to your supervisory authority.

7. Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Data travels encrypted (TLS) and is stored encrypted at rest by Firebase. Access on our side is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

9. Changes

When this policy changes we update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.

1. The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and PT TECHNOLOGIES LLC (ООО "PT TECHNOLOGIES"), Tashkent, Uzbekistan, trading as PT Theology (“we”), for the use of Berea and any other app we publish (“the apps”). By installing or using an app you accept them. If you do not, do not use the app.

2. What you get

A personal, non-transferable licence to use the apps on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. The Scripture text (World English Bible, Reina-Valera 1909) is in the public domain and free to read in the app. Reading modules, games and progress features are part of a paid subscription described in the subscription terms.

3. Your account

You must be at least 13 to create an account. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens under it. Give us accurate information. One account per person.

4. Acceptable use

Do not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the tasks, games or app code; do not reverse-engineer the app; do not attempt to bypass the subscription; do not use the apps to harass anyone or to break the law. We may suspend or close an account that does.

5. Our content

The reading modules, questions, game content, design and software are ours or licensed to us and are protected by copyright. Public-domain Scripture text is not claimed. Trademarks (PT Theology, Berea) are ours.

6. Accuracy

We check the tasks against the text, but the apps are learning tools, not authorities. If you find an error, tell support@techatpt.com and we will correct it. The apps are not affiliated with any church, denomination or publisher.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, add or remove features, and may discontinue an app with at least 30 days’ notice in the app; if we discontinue a paid feature you have paid for, we refund the unused part of the period. Service may be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

8. Warranty and liability

The apps are provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude warranties not stated here and our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the apps and delete your account at any time. We can end the agreement for a breach of these terms. Sections 5, 8 and 10 survive.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection where you live. We will try to resolve any dispute by email first; failing that, the courts of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, have jurisdiction, except where your local law gives you the right to your own courts.

11. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms; material changes are announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.

1. Where you paid decides who refunds

Subscriptions are sold through Google Play (and, when the iPhone app ships, the App Store). The store takes the payment, holds your card details and issues refunds under its own rules; we cannot see your card and cannot move money on the store’s behalf.

2. Google Play

• Within 48 hours of a purchase you can request a refund directly from Google Play (play.google.com → Order history → Report a problem).
• After 48 hours, ask us — see section 4 — and we will request the refund from Google on your behalf where our policy applies.

3. Our policy

• Trial. The 7-day trial is free. Cancel before it ends and nothing is charged.
• First charge. If you did not mean to keep the subscription, ask within 14 days of the first charge and we refund it in full, no questions.
• Renewals. Renewals are not refunded except where the app did not work for a substantial part of the period through our fault, or where we discontinued a paid feature — then we refund the unused part.
• Duplicate or mistaken charges are always refunded.
• Refunds go back to the payment method the store charged, and take the store’s usual time to appear (typically 3–10 business days).

4. How to ask

Email support@techatpt.com with the Google Play order number (GPA.xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxx, in your Play receipt email) and the email on your account. We answer within 3–5 business days.

5. Cancelling is not a refund

Cancelling a subscription stops the next charge; it does not refund the current one. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by this policy.

How it works

• The trial starts when you confirm it in Google Play. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the first monthly charge is taken automatically.
• Each month renews automatically at the price shown in Google Play unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• After cancelling, you keep Berea Plus until the end of the period you have paid for; then the app returns to the free reader.
• The free reader — the whole Bible in both translations — never expires and needs no subscription.
• Price changes are announced in the app and by Google Play at least 30 days in advance; a change takes effect at the next renewal after that, and you can cancel before it does.
• A subscription is tied to your Google account and works on all your Android devices signed in to it. When the iPhone app ships, it will have its own subscription through the App Store.

Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

You can delete your PT Theology account and everything stored under it at any time. There are two ways.

In the app

Settings → Account → Delete account. Confirm by typing DELETE. The account and its data are removed within 30 days; sign-in stops immediately.

By email

Write to support@techatpt.com from the email address on the account with the subject Delete my PT Theology account. We confirm within 3–5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

• Your account (email, name, sign-in provider ID)
• All progress: modules, answers, scores, streaks, game results, bookmarks and reading position
• Settings and the notification token
• Subscription state on our side

What is not

• Your Google Play purchase history, which Google keeps under its own policy. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription — cancel it in Google Play first, or you will keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.
• Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics that cannot be traced to you.
• Records we must keep by law (for example, tax records of payments), kept only as long as the law requires.
